Some Gift Suggestions For Your Computer this Christmas

Christmas time is the season for exchanging gifts and presents. We all hope to receive that something that we really like, like the pair of shoes that you haven’t been able to afford, or that set of power tools for your garage, even the toy that you were dying to have all year. But, have you thought about giving your computer the gift that it really wants? While computers aren’t alive, there are things that you can buy for them that would make them happy if they were.

Remember if your computer runs great, and is happy, you will be happy as well. So let’s take a look at hardware upgrades for your machine. If you know how to work on computers then there are a range of presents to buy for your beloved machine. First off let’s take a look at the power supply. Many people don’t realize how important this part is. Not just any old power supply is good enough.

While it may say 700 watts on the side, it might be bad quality. Remember you need one that has enough amps on the 12 volt rail to support your video card. A good power supply or PSU generally has around 40 amps on the 12 volt rail. If you don’t have a video card and are using an onboard chipset then it’s time to get one. Video cards do more for your machine than make games look good.

Dedicated video cards are more capable than an integrated chipset and can take additional strain off the primary processor, or CPU. These cards have their own memory installed; this makes space on the RAM, allowing faster performance. They also decode DVD’s and BLU RAY movies faster.

In addition to a video card you can also purchase a dedicated sound card and some new speakers. Nothing like a 5.1 surround card and speaker system to give your games the sound quality they deserve. Of course these are all moot points if you don’t have the RAM to make your machine perform its best. Luckily RAM chips are some of the cheapest components available for a computer.

Do not think twice about giving your computer 4 Gigabytes of RAM it deserves for Christmas. You could also buy a 1 Terabyte hard drive for your computer. This will give you all the space that you can possible hope for, for your music, games, pictures, and home movies. Finally you could give your computer air conditioning with additional high performance fans.

For other peripheral devices you can buy high performance mouse and an ergonomic keyboard. If you like, there are transparent ones with the multi-colored LED lights inside. For the interface, you can grab a new HDTV for a monitor upgrade. If you’re really enthusiastic then you could buy a transparent case with LED fans. Swapping computer parts between cases while drinking Eggnog has the Christmas spirit written all over it.

So regardless of what you buy to make your computer happy remember that it can’t be happy about it. Therefore you must be happy for it, and enjoy the upgrade you bought. So go forth, play your games, movies, and music. Play to your heart’s content and enjoy the Christmas present you bought your computer.
