Could Carrying a Self Defense Pepper Spray Save Your Life?

I get frequent visits from students asking my opinion on various topics. Whether it be education, philosophy, society, or whatever other topic you can think of, I still get inquiries. My students seem to confide trust in me. And recently I have been noticing a trend – more and more people are asking about self defense products more frequently.

I have always supported passive aggressive measures first and foremost. I consider myself a man of peace. But I know the number of attacks on females, even on campus, has increase substantially. So I conducted further surveys on self defense weapons online, executed a small study throughout the university, and I came up with some telling results.

I read on different websites, forums, blogs and article directories that women do in fact condone self defense weapons use because they are effective and they do not usually have long-term, harmful effects. Therefore, women have been buying up more pepper spray, taser guns, and stun guns then ever before. I was intrigued and I did not believe this to be true. I realize that pepper spray has been receiving a lot of bad media coverage; nonetheless, women do in fact prefer these weapons and do not fear them.

I continued to research, on and off campus. I found that 32% of women at my university between the ages of 18 and 29 owned either a stun gun, taser gun, or pepper spray and carry it with them frequently. Furthermore, they do in fact feel safer having the device. I also found that 79% of the total group studied in the same age range would buy one of those weapons (whether it be an additional device or their first one.) Weirdly enough, only 5% of the women studied said they would never purchase a self defense weapon.

The experiment and survey results essentially said that self defense weapons do in fact help women feel safer. What separates the positive events from the negative events is if the device’s user(s) know how to use them. As such, if in the future if someone comes up to me to ask me my opinion on pepper spray and stun guns, I will be confident in saying that I fully condone their use, but only when their operators are well-versed in utilizing their devices.

Ironically, after I completed my research I purchased self defense weapons for my wife and two young adult daughters after I gave them the necessary information regarding the device(s). I found this website on the internet where I was able to find a lot of useful information about self defense products. The owners of the website where highly knowledgeable and suggested I continue to visit their website to read the webpage blog for continual, recent information and news. They helped me find the right product for the right people, they have good prices, and they are credible and trusted.
