Different Types Of Alarm Systems
Most people are very protective about their property and possessions. Therefore it is no surprise that many use alarm systems in order to increase their home security. There are several types of alarm available.
The most common alarm is the burglar alarm. This is used to deter thieves from entering your property. Burglar alarms come in two main types. There is the Bells Only alarm and the Monitored alarm. Bells Only alarms are the most popular. These work simply but setting off an alarm when someone enters the property. The owner has a set amount of time in which to enter their pass code and deactivate the system before the alarm goes off. Most intruders will flee the scene as soon as the alarm goes off.
There is also a Monitored alarm. The main difference between this and the Bells Only is that the Monitored alarm is connected to a remote monitoring center. On activation of your alarm the monitoring center will telephone you. If it is a false alarm then you simply give your pass code and it will not be taken any further. If you do not answer or the person who answers does not give the code then the police will be sent to the property. This can be a good choice if you live in an isolated area.
If you are a nervous person or have reason to believe that you are in danger then you may wish to have a duress alarm fitted in your home. In the event of an emergency you press the button and the police will be contact and sent to you.
These are the most popular alarms but there are some others that you may wish to consider as well. Some people choose to use movement detectors with their burglar alarm. You place the sensors in certain places in your house and they use ultrasonic or infrared rays to detect any movement that crosses their path.
For extra security you can also use Magnetic reed switches. These can be placed on your doors and windows and they will raise the alert when a door or window is opened deterring the trespasser from entering your property. It can also allow you to see where your property may be vulnerable and where may need extra protection.
A CCTV monitoring system may be a good idea if you want to catch the person who tries to break into your home. Video cameras are placed in prime locations and record everything that happens. You may want someone to watch the screens as the action happens or you may play the video back at another time. Video evidence of a break in can be very helpful when it comes to prosecution.
It is recommended that a smoke alarm is fitted in every home. These are important as they can raise the alarm in the event of a fire giving you enough time to get to safety before the fire takes hold. The benefits of alarms systems are two fold. They add extra security to your property but they also provide you with peace of mind.
